After more than 20 years, the Media Center at DES has officially received a stunning makeover! Thanks to the incredible success of the DES PIE Boosterthon, which raised a staggering $40,000, the elementary school replaced its aging furniture with a modern, student-centered setup.

The upgrade includes 10 brand-new collaborative tables and 30 ergonomic chairs designed to foster "group think" and teamwork. Whether students are diving into a project or reading their favorite stories, these tables provide the perfect space for young minds to connect.

What’s New?

• The Circulation Desk: Our old desk has been replaced with a custom-built station at a height specifically conducive for elementary students, making it easier than ever for our readers to check out books and interact with staff.

• Collaborative Seating: The new furniture is mobile and flexible, allowing the library to transform based on the day's activities.

• A Modern Look: Out with the old, in with the gold! The space feels brighter, more inviting and ready for the next generation of learners.

This transformation wouldn't have been possible without the muscle and hard work of our custodial staff. They worked tirelessly to move out the decades-old furniture and ensure the space was ready for students.
